Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens has no regrets about the city’s investment in the Windsor Championship stop on the Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada at Ambassador Golf Course.
Pro golf returned to the area in 2018 and the city provided a $120,000 investment over three years that will see the final installment of $30,000 put into this year’s event.
“Once again, we’re very excited to be supporting this event,” Dilkens said Wednesday. “We think it’s just been a great event and certainly the investment that we have made on behalf of the city we think there’s been a 10-fold return on that particular investment.”
There will be some changes to this event starting with a new date as the event will be the seventh stop on this year’s tour and be pushed back two weeks to July 13-19 after another city asking to hold the event over the Canada Day holiday this year.
